THE STORY

Through the warp storms of the Great Rift, a distress call reaches the Rock, the fortress-monastery of the Dark Angels. It is a reminder of an ancient duty, and since the dark days of the Horus Heresy, nothing means as much to the Dark Angels as an oath they have sworn. Supreme Grand Master Azrael dispatches Lazarus' Fifth Company to the Knight world of Reys to settle an old debt, for the warp has cast its hungry gaze upon the planet.

But Lazarus is not sure if Reys even wants to be saved - its Knights were lost long ago, its government is plagued by political unrest, and internal conflicts prevent its defense against an ancient evil. An evil that, like Lazarus himself, refuses to die.
