Grand Cathay: Defenders of the Great Bastion

In times of great need, the lowborn peasants, field hands, and citizens of Grand Cathay take up arms to defend their homeland. While they may not be as well-equipped or trained as Jade Warriors, they are nonetheless a determined and potent fighting force. They use blackpowder firearms and long spears to ardently stand against the most terrible foes a mortal can behold.

This packed box is ideal for starting a new collection of Grand Cathay's armies or bolstering an existing force to use in Warhammer: The Old World. The reinforcements are led by a pair of Astromancers, one on foot and one mounted, offering good magical support. The bulk of the force consists of peasant militia, who can overwhelm even tough enemies with their numbers. Crane Teams and Ironhail Gunners provide serious firepower and can eliminate any enemy from a distance. This box is the first opportunity to acquire all these new miniatures.

From this box, you can build 53 multi-part plastic miniatures of Grand Cathay:

- 1x Astromancer on Cathayan Warhorse
- 1x Homunculus
- 8x Crane Teams
- 12x Ironhail Gunners
- 30x Peasant Militiamen

The miniatures in this box can be customized to some extent. Both Astromancers have a choice of two heads and two weapons for their right hand.

The Peasant Militia can be armed with either a war bow or a long spear. Parts are included for up to three optional champions, each with a choice of two heads, as well as for up to three optional musicians and three optional standard bearers. There are 72 heads in the set, some bare-headed and some wearing hats. The heads, hats, quivers, and weapons can be interchanged among all bodies.

This kit consists of 696 plastic components and includes 1 Citadel Rectangular Base (30mm x 60mm), 8 Citadel Rectangular Bases (50mm x 25mm), and 44 Citadel Square Bases (25mm). These miniatures need to be assembled and are unpainted – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints.
