German Heer 75mm PaK 40 anti-tank gun (1943-45)

With the increased deployment of heavy Soviet tanks like the T-34 and KV-1, the Wehrmacht's 5cm PaK 38 was no longer effective enough.
By the beginning of 1942, the PaK 40 became available. It became the standard weapon of German tank destroyers.

As the war progressed, however, it became clear that even the 7.5 cm PaK and its variants could no longer combat all enemy tanks. On the Eastern Front, the weapon's effectiveness was diminished by the increasingly appearing heavy tanks of the IS series. On the Western Front in 1944/45 and in Africa in 1942/43, however, it was effective enough against British and American tanks.
