Although surprised and ill-equipped for Hitler's last gamble in the West - the Battle of the Bulge - US troops persevered, fighting off the twin enemies of the German offensive and harsh winter conditions.

Clad in greatcoats, Mackinaw jackets and anything else to keep the bitter cold at bay, US Army soldiers fought their Italian and German adversaries in the cold and mostly won.
