US Ace Pilot: James Farrell

In May 1943, Lieutenant James “Boss” Farrell crossed the Atlantic in his B-26 Marauder, which he named “Flak-Bait” after the family dog, to join the 322nd Bombardment Group of the USAAF in England. "Boss" Farrell soon found that his bomber lived up to its name, taking numerous hits during his 72 combat missions up to D-Day. Yet, even with only one engine, "Flak-Bait" always brought Farrell home. After a total of 102 missions, Farrell returned to the USA in July 1944, but "Flak-Bait" continued to fight, surviving the war with a total of 207 missions.
