The evolving nature of naval warfare was placing greater and greater emphasis on aircraft carriers, and control of island airfields was paramount to the wider strategic concerns of the Pacific war. Aerial combat over the Pacific is, therefore, a fascinating subject for the tabletop gamer, and there was no more decisive battle than Midway, on which our brand new Blood Red Skies Starter Set is based.

Blood Red Skies is a tabletop miniatures game where you command a squadron of fighter aircraft in a dogfight. Blood Red Skies focuses on the control of a large number of aircraft at once. The game is fast-paced and requires little pre-planning. A smaller game of Blood Red Skies with six planes per side can be fought in forty-five minutes or less.

A force is made up of iconic WWII fighter aircraft utilising the dynamic "Advantage" system. Opposing pilots can also use card-based aircraft traits, doctrines, Ace skills, and theatre rules to get the best out of their aircraft and the combat environment.

The Battle of Midway Starter set contains everything you need to play including rules, tokens, dice, game cards, and most importantly 12 highly detailed Warlord Resin aircraft to take to battle.

The Grumman F4F Wildcat As the US Navy and Marine Corps entered WWII, they had just one effective fighter at their disposal: the F4F Wildcat. Fortunately, the Wildcat proved more than capable of holding the line.

The Mitsubishi A6M2 'Zero' The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was a fast, modern fighter, but it had no armour for the pilot. When the Zero (derived from its Japanese name Reisen – meaning Zero Fighter) was in the hands of aggressive and well-trained pilots, this weakness was hardly noticeable.

US aircraft are cast in blue resin and Japanese in white/cream, making your squadrons easy to distinguish and able to leap into ferocious tabletop action even before applying paint to the model.
