Textured Rolling Pin - Stone Pavement

Textured rolling pins designed to imprint a permanent, repeated pattern onto clay and other putties. Made from clear, non-toxic PMMA plastic with amazing non-stick properties. Textured rolling pins are available in several different textures, depending on your specific needs.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
1. - Properly mix the putty/clay/modeling compound until it is ready according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
2. - Spread out the putty/clay/modeling compound. For best results, smooth the compound. We recommend using a flat, untextured rolling pin for this purpose.
3. - Depending on the type of material, we recommend moistening the rolling pin to prevent sticking.
4. - Move the rolling pin with consistently even pressure to ensure a continuous texture.
5. - Cut off excess material at the sides with a sharp knife. We recommend allowing the material to dry beforehand.

MATERIALS:
There are many different putties and types of clay on the market, and all can be textured with the right technique.
Modeling with these rolling pins and polymer clay (Fimo or Sculpey type) is usually quite easy, as polymer clay allows for easy error correction due to the heat required for curing.
If the goal is to model textured bases, we recommend using MDF wood bases. It is possible to texture the material directly onto the bases and then bake the model, along with the MDF wood bases, in the oven at 150ºC for 15 minutes. The MDF wood bases will not burn and will have a slight smell reminiscent of toast.
In the case of epoxy putties, there are various techniques to achieve similar results. The advantage of these materials is that they do not need to be baked but can be textured directly.
When using Green Stuff, which is particularly sticky, it is advisable to moisten the surface of the rolling pin or the compound with a little water before imprinting the texture.
The stickiness of Greenstuff can also be reduced with talcum powder, or even directly applied modeling petroleum jelly (LINK).
Other epoxy putties, e.g., Milliput modeling compounds, can also be used. However, these should not be moistened, as this unnecessarily complicates the work. If Milliput appears too sticky, the compound should be kneaded until the stickiness subsides.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:
After using the rolling pin, it should be cleaned with a scratching brush and plenty of water to remove any residue of the material used.

Children should always be supervised by an adult during use.
