Texture Roller - Cobblestones 15mm
Texture Roller - COBBLESTONES 15mm
Texture rollers capable of impressing a permanent, repetitive pattern on clay and putty. Made from clear PMMA plastic with amazing non-piercing properties. It is non-toxic. They come in several different textures depending on your specific needs.
Length: 14'50 cm (5'5 inches)
Diameter: 2'5cm (1 inch)
Pattern Size: 1-4mm (variable with several cobblestone types, all of them different)
Recommended Scale: 1/144 - 1/100 - 1/72 (12-15-20mm)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
1. - Mix the putty/clay, modeling compounds, correctly until it is ready according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
2. - Spread out the putty/clay, modeling compounds. For best results, smooth the compound. * We recommend using a flat rolling pin, without texture, for this purpose.
3. - Depending on the type of material, we recommend moistening the roller to prevent it from sticking to the roller.
4. - Move the roller with evenly applied pressure to ensure a continuous texture.
5. - Cut off any excess material at the sides with a sharp knife. We recommend allowing the material to dry beforehand.
MATERIALS:
There are many different putties and types of clay on the market, and all can be textured with the right technique.
Modeling with these rolling pins and polymer clay (Fimo or Sculpey type) is usually quite easy, as polymer clay allows for easy error correction due to the heat required for curing.
If the goal is to model textured bases, we recommend using MDF wood bases. It is possible to texture the material directly on the bases and then bake the model, including the MDF wood bases, in the oven at 150ºC for 15 minutes. The MDF wood bases will not burn and will lightly smell like toasted bread.
In the case of epoxy putties, there are different techniques to achieve similar results. The advantage of these materials is that they do not need to be fired but can be textured directly.
When using Green Stuff, which is particularly sticky, it is advisable to moisten the surface of the roller or the compound with a little water before impressing the texture.
Also, talcum powder, or even directly applied modeling petroleum jelly (LINK), can reduce the stickiness of Green Stuff.
Other epoxy putties, e.g., Milliput modeling compounds, can also be used. However, these should not be moistened, as this unnecessarily complicates the work. If Milliput appears too sticky, the compound should be kneaded until the stickiness subsides.
CLEANING AND CARE:
After using the roller, it should be cleaned with a scratching brush (LINK) and plenty of water to remove any residue of the material used.
SAFETY:
Children should always be in the presence of a responsible adult when using the product.
