Texture Roller - Abbey of the Templars

Texture rollers with which a permanent, repeated pattern can be embossed on clay and other putties. Made from clear, non-toxic PMMA plastic with amazing non-piercing properties. The texture rollers are available in several different textures, depending on your specific needs.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
1. - Mix the putty/clay/modeling compound properly until it is ready according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
2. - Roll out the putty/clay/modeling compound. For best results, smooth the compound. We recommend using a flat, untextured rolling pin for this purpose.
3. - Depending on the type of material, we recommend moistening the roller to prevent sticking.
4. - Move the roller with evenly distributed pressure to ensure a continuous texture.
5. - Trim excess material from the sides with a sharp knife. We recommend allowing the material to dry beforehand.

MATERIALS:
There are many different putties and types of clay on the market, and all can be textured with the right technique.
Modeling with these rolling pins and polymer clay (Fimo or Sculpey type) is usually quite easy, as polymer clay allows for easy error correction due to the heat required for curing.
If the goal is to model textured bases, we recommend using MDF wood bases. It is possible to texture the material directly on the bases and then bake the model along with the MDF wood bases in the oven at 150ºC for 15 minutes. The MDF wood bases will not burn and will lightly resemble the smell of toasted bread.
In the case of epoxy putties, there are various techniques to achieve similar results. The advantage of these materials is that they do not need to be baked but can be textured directly.
When using Green Stuff, which is particularly sticky, it is advisable to moisten the surface of the roller or the compound with a little water before impressing the texture.
Talk powder, or even directly applied modeling petroleum jelly (LINK), can also reduce the stickiness of Green Stuff.
Other epoxy putties, e.g. Milliput modeling compounds, can also be used. However, these should not be moistened, as this unnecessarily complicates the work. If Milliput appears too sticky, the compound should be kneaded until the stickiness subsides.

CLEANING AND CARE:
After using the roller, it should be cleaned with a scratching brush and plenty of water to remove any residue of the material used.
