The Soviet Union made extensive use of medium calibre mortars to support their infantry, with the 82mm M-37 and M-41 types being the most common. These mortars were similar to those used all over the world, being simple and almost foolproof in their basic design.

An indispensable part of Heavy Weapons Platoons in Bolt Action, medium mortars give commanders the ability to lay down indirect fire over the heads of their troops, ignoring cover as they hit their targets. Ranged onto the enemy by spotters, medium mortars can control large areas of the battlefield if used well.
