From the first recruit enlisted in a tavern during the American Revolutionary War, the United States Marine Corps can look back on over 230 years of history. Deployments all over the world have made the USMC one of the most renowned fighting forces on the globe.
During World War II, the US Marines were the spearhead of the American response to the advance of the Japanese Empire in the Pacific.
The technologically superior US forces pushed back Japanese expansion through numerous amphibious assaults, among other tactics. The USMC bore the brunt of these battles, which culminated in an American victory.
Although this came with heavy losses of life on both sides.
