The Landwehr was a militia formed by teenagers up to men in their forties. Plucked from their fields, shops, and offices, they were enlisted into the Prussian military machine to swell the forces that could eventually depose Napoleon, the tyrant of Europe. Prussia was a small state, but their armies were well-trained and burned to avenge their previous defeats.

The Landwehr consisted of over sixty battalions and was equipped and trained as time and money permitted. A cheap but warm coat, a comfortable cap, and a musket were considered uniform enough to send thousands of troops into the field for the then-limited Prussian army.

The Landwehr fought bravely in the later wars of the period, fighting hard in the campaigns of 1813 and finally at the climax of the Hundred Days Campaign, which was Ligny and Waterloo.

Perhaps poorly equipped and semi-trained, but after a few months of hard fighting, they fought with determination alongside their brothers in the regiments of the Prussian Line.

With their detailed features, these plastics capture the true nature of the Landwehr infantry, from the rugged farmers to the young man facing combat for the first time.
