Black Powder: Portuguese Line Infantry

The Portuguese were rarely fond of their Spanish neighbours. Even the year 1807, when Napoleon marched large French and Spanish forces across the border into Portugal, did not change this. However, Great Britain and Portugal were old allies, and it was not long before the Crown sent a general named Wellesley from London to drive the French out of Portuguese territory.

The allied army was carefully assembled with units from both nations, which gave it a distinctive character and was indeed an incentive for each nation to outperform the other in battle.
The line infantry in their blue jackets, and their light troops in brown, developed under Wellesley and Marshall Soult into proud and formidable units. Wellington, who like Wellesley became famous, applauded his Portuguese troops and called them his "fighting cocks." High praise from a man who recognized a good soldier when he saw one.

The box contains the following plastic and metal miniatures:

• 20 plastic Portuguese Line Infantrymen.
• 4 metal command models: 1 officer, 1 drummer, and 2 standard bearers.
• 2 double-sided background instructions with ten full-colour flags.

The miniatures are supplied unpainted.
