Pike & Shotte Epic Battles - Mortar

In the 17th Century there were few more terrifying weapons than the dreaded blast of the mortar bomb. Used primarily in sieges, mortars hurled their fizzing, hissing projectiles high into the air, clearing the tallest walls or towers, before crashing down onto the streets or houses below, exploding with a mighty bang.

They struck fear into garrisons and townsfolk alike, sometimes resulting in the civilians pleading with the city's governor to surrender to avoid further damage. Rarely used in the field, mortars required a skilled crew to set the fuses and fire the shells with precision without blowing themselves up!
