The most widely deployed German tank at the start of WWII, the Panzer II formed the backbone of the Panzer Divisions that became legendary through the Blitzkrieg campaigns in Western Europe. Although lightly armed and armoured, and technologically outclassed by heavier vehicles, it nonetheless served well, particularly against enemy infantry. Panzer IIs saw extensive service in the early war in Europe and North Africa, and also played a significant role in Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union. Although replaced on the front lines by the larger and more modern Panzer IIIs and IVs, some Panzer IIs remained in service with training units and second-line formations until the end of the war.

On the tabletop, the Panzer II is a powerful addition to early war German tank platoons, providing you with a cost-effective armoured platform mounting the incredibly useful light autocannon. Able to take out enemy infantry with ease and threaten lighter armoured vehicles, it punches well above its weight in Bolt Action games.
