Panther Ausf. A

After the Wehrmacht's experience on the Eastern Front that the Soviets were able to deploy very effective medium and heavy tanks, it was decided to develop a tank that combined excellent armor, speed, and powerful weapons. The result was the Panther, the best medium tank of all parties to the conflict.

Despite its heavy armor, especially the frontal armor, mostly impenetrable to many Allied weapons, it reached speeds of over 50km/h. Its particular value, however, lay in its very effective armament. The 7.5cm KwK 42 L/70 was even more deadly than the already feared 8.8cm. This weapon could take out anything, and even at long distances, even the heaviest Allied tanks were not safe.

The Panther was manufactured from 1942 onwards and, alongside the Panzer IV, was the standard main battle tank of the late armored forces. It proved to be a difficult opponent to defeat on the battlefields of World War II.
