Bolt Action: Opel Blitz/Maultier

The Opel Blitz came as the Type S two-wheel drive and as the Type A or “Allrad” with a 4 x 4 chassis, which could withstand most conditions, providing an excellent structure on which such conversions as a radio truck (a metal and wooden body on the back that housed radio equipment), Kfz. 385 fuel tankers, as well as anti-aircraft weapon platforms.

Perhaps the more well-known adaption was the Opel Maultier “Mule” half-track. Introduced in 1941 after the terrible conditions of the Eastern Front brought the entire army to a standstill. This conversion, which used the track system of the obsolete Panzer I, gave the German army a very competent all-purpose transporter that would be used until the end of the war.
