Illuminor Szeras works to unravel the mysteries of life, for he fears making a pathetic god if he does not possess the secrets of life. Szeras stood on the brink of understanding for centuries, but somehow complete knowledge always eludes him. Because of this obsession, his artistry in improving weapons and even the mechanical bodies of other Necrons is unparalleled. Occasionally, Szeras's talents are so in demand that he can name his own price - and he always insists on a raid on a world of his choice. Above all others, Szeras values Aeldari test subjects, for they invariably produce more interesting results than any other peoples in the galaxy. Once captured, his test subjects face only a pain-filled, but not necessarily short, existence in his blood-stained laboratory catacombs on Zantragora.

Illuminor Szeras is a powerful HQ choice for the Necrons army and he can mechanically enhance his warriors and lead them to new heights of power on the battlefield. He wields a ghost spear – an ancient and terrible weapon that can be used to strike down opponents from a distance or fell them in close combat.
