The Portuguese military of the Napoleonic Wars was an interesting construct. A firm ally of Great Britain, thanks to long-standing treaties, and a bitter foe of the invading French, the Portuguese army was relatively small but benefited hugely from British training and equipment from 1809 onwards, developing into a capable fighting force in its own right. There were twelve cavalry regiments that served well throughout the Peninsular War, helping to drive out the hated French!

Cavalry is a vital part of any Black Powder army, used to screen your own advance, drive off enemy horsemen, and ultimately to charge home to glorious victory. When well-led, they can be absolutely devastating, and these officers are just the men to provide that leadership!
