The Napoleonic Wars Portuguese military was an interesting beast. A firm ally of Great Britain thanks to centuries-old treaties and a bitter foe of the invading French, the Portuguese army was relatively small but hugely benefited from British training and equipment from 1809 onwards, becoming a force in its own right. There were twelve regiments of cavalry, which served well during the Peninsular War, helping to drive out the hated French!

Cavalry is an essential component of any black powder army, screening your own advance, repelling enemy horsemen and eventually riding home to glorious victory – these gallant cavalrymen are ready to ride!
