Mithridates VI 'Eupator' was both the main protagonist and Rome's most unrelenting foe during the eponymous Mithridatic Wars of 88-63 BC, in which he resisted Rome's expansion into Asia and the Hellenistic world.

A shrewd politician and superb military leader, Mithridates sought to unite his disparate neighbours to push back Roman interests across the Adriatic. Though ultimately unsuccessful, dying in exile, he forged a series of coalitions and inflicted numerous defeats on Roman forces for over two decades.

Our miniature depicts Mithridates in a warlike pose, spear aloft, driving his troops into battle. He is the perfect centrepiece for any Pontic force and is sure to present a formidable challenge to any opponent.
