Matilda II Tank Troop

Battle of France:
In the Battle of France, the Matilda II tanks fought against a general retreat. Matilda caused great problems for the Germans, because their 37mm and 50mm anti-tank guns were simply too small to penetrate the thick armour of the tanks.

Western Desert:
Perhaps the image of the A12 Matilda II is more consistent with the gruesome battles in the desert, where it encountered the notorious 88s of the Afrika Korps.

Far East:
Later, as they became increasingly obsolete compared to German vehicles, many were sent to the Far East, where the opposing Japanese tanks were much lighter.
It was the only British tank to be in active service throughout the war.
