For the first time Bolt Action has moved from World War Two to the 'forgotten war' that took place in Korea between 1950-1953.

The KPA forces were vast, consisting of between 150,000 to 200,000 men split into 10 infantry divisions, 1 tank division and 1 air force division. Though North Korean conscription was in force before war broke out, many young men were either encouraged by their own families or pressured into service for a financial reward.
By the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950, the KPA was in every way better prepared for the conflict to come. Not only were they better trained and better equipped but previous guerilla warfare in South Korea had left the ROKA forces with little time to rebuild a strong military presence. As such, the initial attacks on June 25th 1950 were very effective.
The KPA foot soldier has long been known for being able to withstand the worst the enemy, the harsh Korean climate, and the difficulties his own superiors can throw at him. Modelled on the mechanised Soviet Army, the sports weapons supplied by Stalin and backed by veterans discharged from China, the KPA forces were considerably larger and more dangerous than anticipated by the UN.

KPA LMG Squads

The basic KPA infantry squad comprised ten men led by a sergeant and junior sergeant. Each squad contained one light machine gun, requiring a second man to act as loader. Typically, the LMG would be the DP (Degtyaryov Pekhotny) machine gun, nicknamed the ‘record player’ due to its distinctive circular pan magazine.
