Korean War Ace Pilot: James ‘Jabby’ Jabara

James "Jabby" Jabara was America’s first jet ace. Having flown P-51 Mustangs in World War II, Jabara became extremely proficient with the new jets being introduced, describing his first flight in the F-80 Shooting Star as the happiest moment of his life.

In the Korean War, Jabara’s 4th Fighter Interceptor Wing was equipped with the new F-86A Sabre to counter the MiG threat. He shot down his first MiG on 3rd April 1951, and his fourteenth MiG in July 1953. This and his single World War II victory earned him Triple Ace status. Jabara attributed his success to his three A’s – aerial discipline, aggressiveness, and aerial gunnery.
