The Ki45 Toryu (Dragon Slayer, Allied reporting name Nick) was a twin-engine heavy fighter based on the Me110 and its contemporaries and became one of the most important combat aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force.

Originally, the Ki-45 was used to escort bombers, but it soon became clear that it was no match for single-engine Allied fighters in a dogfight. It was therefore redeployed and proved to be a successful bomber hunter with its heavy cannon armament.
