Seeking to secure its place amongst the European powers, Italy began colonizing several African countries in the late 19th century, including Eritrea.

Eritrean Ascari battalions became an integral part of Italy’s colonization of East Africa and were equipped with Italian weaponry and equipment. In WWII, the Ascari acquitted themselves superbly in the North Africa campaign. They were respected and formidable fighters who served until the fall of Italian East Africa in 1941.

The box contains 10 metal figures with plastic bases.
