Italian Ace Pilot: Furio Niclot Doglio

Furio Niclot Doglio was a famous pre-war test pilot, holding nine world records. He flew in the Battle of Britain before being transferred first to North Africa, where he scored his first victory, and then participated in the aerial assault on Malta. There, he quickly made a name for himself with his daring head-on attacks, bagging six Spitfires in quick succession. Doglio’s luck ran out on 27th July 1942, when he was shot down by Canadian ace George Beurling.
