Fallschirmjäger Platoon (Winter)

The world's first paratroopers to be deployed in large numbers, German Fallschirmjäger were at the cutting edge of the army at the outbreak of war in 1939. Undertaking daring attacks on strategic objectives such as Fort Eben Emael, they enabled the subsequent panzers to overrun Europe. The Fallschirmjäger's greatest success was the capture of Crete in 1941 against the more numerous British and Commonwealth forces. This Pyrrhic victory led to the Fallschirmjäger never again being used in airborne operations, instead fighting as highly motivated infantry whose specialist equipment made them tough.

This box contains 30 infantry models with a range of weapons and equipment. They wear quilted winter uniforms, perfect for the relentless snowy woodland terrain of the Battle of the Bulge, the bleak steppes of the Eastern Front, or the mountains of Italy. Each frame includes a range of heads, including the distinctive helmets, peaked caps, and officer's caps, the Kar 98K rifle and the StG 44 and FG42 assault rifles, a range of German and captured machine guns, the MG34 and MG42 light machine guns with ammunition belts and boxes, and a Panzerfaust.
