Brush Repair Gel
Brush repair gel or brush restorer is a product used to restore the shape and appearance of hobby paint brushes and makeup brushes. The brush repair gel is water-soluble and leaves no stains, as it contains a blend of conditioners and solvents that work together to reshape and recondition the bristles of a brush. Typically, it is applied by gently massaging the bristles with the gel, then rinsing and reshaping the brush to its original form. Brush repair gel is used at the end of brush production to give them a final touch, and it is a helpful tool to maintain the quality of brushes and extend their lifespan.
The Brush Restorer is compatible with brush soap, cleaner, and conditioner and should be used after all paint residue has been removed from the brush bristles. Restore the tip of your brush and make it look completely new.
This set will include a 17ml bottle.
How to use a Brush Restorer
This type of brush restorer is a product for cleaning and refreshing painting tools used with acrylic, oil, or solvent-based paints, helping to remove dried residue and restore their original condition.
Here are the general steps for using the gel:
Moisten the bristles of the brush you want to repair with water.
Squeeze a small amount of the repair gel onto one of your fingers or a clean surface.
Gently massage the bristles into the gel, working the product through the bristles up to the ferrule.
Use your fingers or a cloth to carefully reshape the bristles to their original form.
Allow the brush to air dry completely for about 10 minutes before reusing it. Avoid drying the brush tip against an object, such as upside down in a glass, as this can cause the bristles to lose their shape.
Wipe the tip with a little water before painting again to soften it.
Repeat this process after each painting session and your brushes will always be like new.
Can the tip of synthetic brushes be repaired?
Yes, in most cases, it is possible to repair the tip of synthetic bristles. The repair depends on the severity of the damage and the type of brush you are using.
Regarding the strength of synthetic brushes compared to natural brushes, synthetic brushes are generally more durable and resistant to chemicals like solvents and solvent-based paints. However, if they become deformed, they tend to resemble a palm tree, meaning the bristle tips bend outwards. This curvature of the plastic is not difficult to restore. Natural brushes, on the other hand, are softer, more fragile, and at the same time flexible. They break if severely damaged, but it is very difficult to create deformations in the shape of a "palm tree," but even if this happens, it is much easier to restore them.
In general, both synthetic and natural fibers can be restored if they are not too severely damaged. Proper care, regular cleaning, and gentle handling can extend their lifespan.
