BP Epic Battles: American Civil War Union Cavalry & Zouaves Brigade

With their dashing, colourful uniforms, the light Zouave infantry regiments saw action in all the major battles of the American Civil War. There were several famous Zouave regiments in Union service such as the 14th Brooklyn, the Fire Zouaves, and Duryée's Zouaves.

The role of cavalry in the Civil War, fighting mounted and armed with pistol, sabre and carbine, was more in that of mounted infantry, of reconnaissance and patrol units rather than the shock cavalry of earlier eras. Skirmishers were an important element in the armies of both sides, providing pre-battle protection for the main units and threatening enemy flanks.

This plastic set contains enough models to field a complete Union Brigade consisting of a Zouave regiment of 100 men, a regiment of cavalry, a regiment of dismounted cavalry and a regiment of skirmishers.

Models are supplied unassembled and unpainted.
