Belgian Army Infantry Squad

The core of the Belgian Army which was tasked with resisting the irresistible German blitzkrieg advance through France and the Netherlands in 1940, the Belgian Army Infantry Squad largely followed the World War One doctrine of static defence.

The squad is led by an NCO with an MP-28 submachine gun. The Browning Fusil-mitrailleur 1930 (FM 30) light machine gun (more commonly known as the ‘Belgian BAR’) serves as the unit LMG, carried and operated by one man. The remainder of the squad is armed with the Fusil 1889 rifle.

  • One NCO with MP28 SMG
  • One man with FM30 LMG
  • Eight men with rifles
