Ayo Gorkhali! - Gurkha Starter Army

Bring on the Gurkhas!

The Gurkha regiments of the Indian Army were among the most famous (and feared) troops in the Commonwealth during World War II. Recruited from mountainous Nepal, armed with the deadly Kukri knives, the Gurkhas proved to be tough, determined, and incredibly lethal soldiers - particularly when the fighting devolved into close quarters. In the jungles of the Far East, they expertly employed their skills, earning a reputation that endures to this day.

In „Bolt Action“, the rules for a Gurkha army can be found in the „Indian Army“ section of the „Armies of the British Commonwealth“ rulebook. The special rule „Ayo Gorkhali!“ (named after their battle cry) allows you to field a complete army of Gurkhas, who (naturally) specialize in getting up close and personal with the enemy. This starter set provides you with everything you need to field a balanced force on the tabletop, themed around the Gurkha troops' engagements against Japanese forces in the Far East.

At the heart of this starter army is the rifle platoon - with 42 plastic Gurkhas in the box, you have everything you need to assemble a huge variety of infantry squads and weapon teams, allowing you enormous flexibility in building your force. The infantry is supported by self-contained artillery and heavy weapon platoons, combining plastic weapons with characterful Warlord resin crews - a 6-pounder anti-tank gun provides punch against armoured targets, while medium machine gun and mortar teams keep the pressure on enemy infantry. Tanks are not overlooked either! Although a jungle fighting force, the Indian Army successfully used M3 medium tanks and M5 light tanks against the lighter Japanese tanks they encountered - and both are included in the starter army!

This starter army is the perfect entry point into a Gurkha collection, as it can be assembled into a variety of fully playable armies straight out of the box and easily adapted to your chosen playstyle.
