Australian Matilda II Infantry Tank

The nature of the terrain prevented large armored formations in North Africa. Instead, the Matilda-equipped Australian 4th Armoured Brigade was broken up and used as individual troops of three tanks in direct support of the infantry.

The Australians made several field modifications to the standard A12 Matilda II, the two most important additions being armoured protection on the front tracks and protection against the penetration of the turret ring into a shot trap.

The Matilda Frog was a terrifying weapon, firing pressurized flames. A 20-second pause between shots while pressure rebuilt required close infantry support to prevent the tank from being overrun by the enemy.

This kit contains everything you need to build either a Matilda II with 2-pounder, Close Support with 3" howitzer or Frog flamethrower variants.
