Astra Militarum: Platoon Battleforce

The Astra Militarum defends the Imperium with a dizzying array of units, from heavy artillery and tanks to massed infantry. Depending on the resources available to the regiment and the conditions of engagement, specific platoons are assembled and sent to the front lines.

This box is ideal for starting an Astra Militarum collection – or expanding an existing army – and fielding it in Warhammer 40,000. It also saves you money compared to buying the kits individually. The core of the force is led by a merciless Commissar, ensuring unwavering loyalty, and consists of infantry units, including a Cadian Command Squad. Providing support are 2 Field Ordnance Teams, while a Basilisk and a Rogal Dorn Battle Tank bring serious firepower to take on anything your opponent might throw at you. Together, they form a balanced, tough force that can hit hard and easily capture and hold objectives.

The miniatures in this set can be easily customised. The Commissar can be built with either a brutal chainsword or a power sword with a single-sided blade. Both have a wrist-mounted power cell.

The Cadian Shock Troops kit is versatile. All soldiers are armed with frag grenades and a reliable lasgun, and they are led by a Sergeant who wields either a drum-fed autogun or a chainsword with a bolt pistol or plasma pistol. The kit includes a flamer, a grenade launcher, a melta, and a plasma gun, as well as a vox-caster. You will also find plenty of cosmetic options, including over 20 different heads, as well as sandbags, combat knives, a spade, a spare helmet, and plenty of sleeping bags.

The Cadian Command Squad consists of a Cadian Commander and four Veterans. The Cadian Commander can be armed with your choice of a laspistol, bolt pistol, or plasma pistol in one hand, and a chainsword, power sword, or power fist in the other. Each of the Veterans by his side is equipped differently – a Field Medic with a lasgun and medical equipment, a Comms-Vox Operator with a laspistol and heavy vox-caster, a Bodyguard with a laspistol and either a chainsword, power sword, or power fist, and a Standard Bearer with a lasgun and Regimental Standard. The Bodyguard and Standard Bearer can each instead be built as Weapon Specialists, armed with your choice of a flamer, grenade launcher, melta, or plasma gun. The kit includes cosmetic options to make your Command Squad stand out. These include magnoculars, strap-worn or stowed weapons, 3 finials for the Regimental Standard, and plenty of different heads and base-sculpting options that you can freely combine for your squad.

The Field Ordnance Teams each have a gunner and 2 spotters or loaders manning a heavy weapon of your choice – a Malleus Rocket Launcher, a Bombast Field Gun, or a Heavy Lascannon. The spotters or loaders are also armed with lasguns and frag grenades. The crew can be customised with various cosmetic options, including 12 different heads and a variety of arms, ammunition, poses, and accessories. The gun carriage can optionally be built without a gunner, and thanks to a partially glue-free assembly, you can move the carriage legs. Alternatively, the carriage can be built with the legs closed.

The Basilisk can optionally be built with a bulldozer blade, a hunter-killer missile, and armoured tracks. The Basilisk's cannon can be built without glue, allowing you to adjust the firing angle, and has a firing platform at the rear. Components are included to build a gunner with a choice of heads and arms. The kit includes accessories to customise your vehicle. These include sleeping bags, entrenching tools, searchlights, fuel canisters, hatch options, and Aquila symbols.

The Rogal Dorn Battle Tank's primary turret-mounted weapon can be your choice of a twin battle cannon or an oppressor cannon with a co-axial autocannon. On a second hull-mounted weapon hardpoint, you can mount either a castigator gatling cannon or a pulveriser cannon. This kit includes optional sponsons, which can be armed with a pair of heavy bolters or multi-meltas, while optional front weapon mounts can be equipped with heavy stubbers or meltaguns. The tank's tracks can be upgraded with additional armour, and the set also includes plenty of cosmetic options, including towing hooks, viewing slits, fuel tanks, a searchlight, and stowed equipment. There are 3 crew members, including an observer, a tank commander, and a pintle-mounted heavy stubber gunner, who can be built with 5 head options or replaced with a closed hatch.

The 2 Astra Militarum Vehicle Transfer Sheets each contain 475 high-quality waterslide transfers. These include symbols for regiments from Cadia, Catachan, Valhalla, Vostroya, Mordian, Tallarn, Krieg, and Tanith, as well as squad markings, numerals, and more. The 3 Cadian Transfer Sheets each contain 597 high-quality waterslide transfers with numerals, squad markings, and regimental heraldry from Cadia.
