For two thousand years, from 3000 BC to 1000 BC, warriors fought with bronze weapons. This gleaming rose-gold metal is an alloy of copper and tin. Warrior nobles rode chariots into battle, clad in bronze armour. Their warriors were armed with bronze spears, maces, and swords. Battles were a dazzling sight, the glitter of weapons and armour in the sun, amidst the clash of bronze against bronze and the clatter of rolling chariots. This was the heroic age of legends! When sand and debris are blown away from the mighty ruins of the temples, tombs, and fortresses of this period, the tales of these battles are revealed, carved in stone and depicted on tablets of fired clay.

Surrounding the ancient carvings of the warriors who inspired the model soldiers pictured in this book are accounts of their deeds on the battlefield. Through what tradition tells us, we can recreate battles for our armies. In this book, you will find many battle scenarios and skirmishes, all based on real events. We begin with the Sumerians, rival city-states. Then we see the rise and fall of the first great empire of the Akkadians. The ancient Egyptians fight to unite their nation and repel the Hyksos invaders. The mighty Hammurabi competes against rivals to create the kingdom of Babylon. The chariot empires of the Hittites and Mitanni clash, trying to assert themselves against the pharaohs of the New Kingdom and the Mycenaeans. On the plain of Megiddo, Egyptian and Canaanite chariots fight. Heroes duel on the plain of Troy. Then Sea Peoples and Habiru tribes challenge the chariot lords as we approach the dramatic end of the Bronze Age.

Age of Bronze contains 32 scenarios. In addition to the traditional mass battles that take place in Hail Caesar, we introduce rules for skirmishes and for smaller conflicts between war bands, which were common during this period.
