Bolt Action: German Afrika Korps Pak 36 light anti-tank gun

The standard issue German anti-tank gun of 1939, equipping the Panzer battalions (Pak standing for Panzerabwehrkanone, and 36 for the year the weapon was designed). It was arguably the best anti-tank gun in the world at the start of the war, but was quickly outmatched by heavier armour on enemy tanks.

Nevertheless, 15,000 were produced for Germany and her allies, and by 1945, it was still in service. To extend its usefulness, the hollow charge ammunition Stielgranate 41 was developed. This large fin-stabilised round fitted over the end of the barrel, but did not have a very long range.
