8th Army Weapons Teams

Infantry weapon teams are a vital part of any Bolt Action army, providing great tactical flexibility to your force. Sniper and anti-tank teams are among the most common weapon types, presenting numerous challenges to the enemy.

At the outbreak of the war, the QF 2-pdr (QF standing for 'quickfiring') was the standard anti-tank gun of the British Army. It was a suitable weapon for its time, somewhat more effective in terms of armour penetration than the contemporary German 37 mm PaK 36. However, it was larger and heavier and featured an unusual carriage where the wheels had to be removed before it could fire. Against early tanks, light vehicles, and poorly armoured Japanese tanks, it was good and popular and was successfully used in France, North Africa, and the Far East.

The snipers were armed with an SMLE rifle No. 4, fitted with a No. 32 Mk. 1 telescopic sight. The team carried fifty rounds of ammunition, five tracer rounds, and five armour-piercing rounds. Two No. 36 Mills bombs or two No. 77 smoke grenades were also carried, along with binoculars and a camouflage net.
