A second machine gun could be mounted at the rear on an anti-aircraft mount. The Stummel replaced the front MG mount with a 75 mm L\/24 gun, which was also used on early StuG III and Panzer IV.\u003cbr\u003eWith its characteristic \"slack track\" design without idler wheels and the clearly recognizable interleaved road wheel system of overlapping and nesting road wheels, common to almost all German half-tracks of this period, the 251 series had low ground pressure and better traction than most half-tracks of other nations.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUnlike Allied half-track armour, the armour plates of the 251 series were designed to prevent penetration by standard rifle bullets (such as the Mauser 7.9x57mm round).
