They were notable for wearing mail shirts throughout the Pike \u0026amp; Shotte era, giving them the look of an earlier age. Despite their somewhat old-fashioned appearance, they were very effective troops, using their speed to assault their opponents' flanks; their armour and hand weapons giving them an advantage in close-quarters combat.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOften they would support the charge of the Winged Hussars, taking advantage of the gaps created by the Hussars and pursuing fleeing troops.
