None were quite so exotic and splendid as the Hussar regiments of the French Army. These dashing light cavalry wore outfits originally inspired by Turkish, and then later Hungarian, cavalry. Each of the fourteen regiments raised wore a different uniform, so a brigade of Hussars was an impressive sight.\u003cbr\u003eMounted on small but hardy horses, they were used in scouting and raiding roles as part of the campaign.
