Typically ten men strong, it was divided into a separate rifle group and Bren group. Each Section was led by a Corporal armed with a rifle or pistol and included a Lance Corporal in charge of the Bren group. All Section members, other than the private, carried ammunition for the Bren - 700 rounds in 25 magazines in total. In addition, all men carried grenades. As the war progressed, additional weaponry was acquired. The Section Leader and\/or Second in Command would be issued Thompson or Sten submachine guns (though these were sometimes tacitly \"lost\" so as not to make themselves overly obvious targets for snipers). Towards the end of the war, many veteran Sections had a second Bren added to them, whether it was officially part of their equipment or not.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCanadian Infantry Sections were organised in the same way as their British counterparts. From 1943-45, due to the Canadian practice of using MMGs and HMGs on Universal Carriers, some infantry Sections were also issued with spare Bren Guns. All three Canadian infantry divisions were trained for amphibious landing operations. Canadians participated in landings at Dieppe, Sicily, Italy, Normandy, the Breskens Pocket, and the Rhine Crossing.
